Campsites on Sicily

Campsites are located in all regions of Sicily. Most of them are the family businesses of the local citizens. That is why you may not only get a place for having a rest but also hire a guide to show you the sights of the place and that will be not expensive for you.

Travelling by car across Sicily is a wonderful way of getting acquainted not only with the Italian history but the history of the whole Mediterranean region. Travelers come to Sicily to get acquainted with the heritage of the past of the ancient Greeks, Romans, Spaniards and Arabs.

If you prefer travelling by car you can do it by your own car or you can rent a car on Sicily. But in both cases you will use campsites, the most democratic and the cheapest way of staying.
There are lots of campsites in Catania, the province which is famous for its beaches, middle age baroque buildings and the Etna volcano. Some camping sites have parking places at the foot of the volcano.

There are lots of camping sites in such provinces as Trapani, Taormina, Licate Cefalu. The province of Caltanisseta has also got lots of camping sites because it is situated in the centre of the isle at the crossroad of the most important transport ways.

Traditionally the living conditions in camping sites vary from Spartan (consisting of a tent, a shower and a toilet) till the comfortable bungalow with all the necessary facilities and a separate bath. The places for camping sites are mostly very picturesque and though camping sites are not so comfortable as hotels, they are much more natural.
