Baroque, Film History and Striking Monuments

Castello degli Schiavi represents Sicilian rural Baroque architecture of the 18th century. In 1972 and 1974, it also served as the filming location for the main scenes of “The Godfather” Parts I and II.

Another form of remembrance can be found at the Monumento ai Caduti. The bronze monument is dedicated to those who fell in all wars. This detail shapes the depiction and makes the monument not only a historical symbol, but also an expressive figurative composition. The Torre Rossa complements the cultural picture as a recently restored Roman funerary monument.
