It was begun at the end of the 17th century on the initiative of Baron Gazzara and expanded in the first half of the 18th century by the La Grua-Talamanca family. The Festa di li Schietti takes place every year during the Easter period. At this festival, the town’s unmarried men compete to lift, using only one arm, a bitter orange tree weighing around 50 kg and decorated with ornaments and ribbons. This is an unusual and vivid festival tradition that clearly differs from the historic buildings and natural surroundings of Capo Rama.
