A prominent cultural venue is the Teatro Comunale Vittoria Colonna on Piazza del Popolo. The neoclassical theater is built onto the late Baroque church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Its horseshoe-shaped auditorium has four tiers of boxes and around 380 seats. The Teatro Comunale Vittoria Colonna was inaugurated on June 10, 1877, with Giuseppe Verdi’s opera La forza del destino.

The Church of San Giovanni Battista is also located in the heart of the historic center. The year 1607 is also part of the town’s history: Vittoria was founded then by Vittoria Colonna Henriquez Cabrera. The so-called Castello was the first building in the new Terra di Vittoria. These two details – the founding of the city and the early building – give the historical orientation a concrete framework without reducing Vittoria to a single sightseeing focus.

Villa Comunale and Valle dell’Ippari

The Villa Comunale di Vittoria offers a different perspective. It was inaugurated as a public garden in 1933 and combines a garden setting with a notable difference in elevation: the monumental Scalinata dell’Ascesa leads to the upper part of the garden. From the Boschetto of the Villa Comunale di Vittoria, you can reach the Valle dell’Ippari. Within this green space, you can therefore experience both a representative flight of steps and the transition into a valley.

From the Belvedere in Vittoria, the view extends across vineyards, greenhouses and olive groves to the horizon. This sequence in particular makes the character of the surrounding landscape easy to understand: vineyards, agriculture and olive groves do not appear as separate topics, but as different elements in the view across the countryside. This creates a contrast with the architecture of the center when planning your day, without having to claim the existence of another specific landscape.

Wine and Agriculture as Part of the Town

Vittoria is closely associated with Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG. It is the only Sicilian wine with a controlled and guaranteed designation of origin and is a blend of Nero d’Avola and Frappato. Those interested in Sicilian wines will therefore encounter a clearly identified regional specialty here. Local wineries in Vittoria offer tastings among vineyards and masserie. This type of experience connects the wine with the landscapes in which it is rooted thematically.

Agriculture also visibly shapes the surrounding area. In Vittoria, tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, eggplants and salad greens are grown under transparent coverings. Together with the view from the Belvedere and the wineries, this creates a concrete picture of local production – from the fields and greenhouses to wine made from Nero d’Avola and Frappato.
