In spring, the dunes towards Tre Fontane are also home to pink Silene colorata and white sea lilies in bloom. These plants give the coastal landscape a distinctly different character from a bare sandy beach without vegetation.

The loggerhead sea turtle, Caretta caretta, is also among the documented natural observations on the beach: in 2025, there was a nest there, and numerous loggerhead sea turtles had already nested on this beach the previous year. Different Beach Sections

At some beach sections in Tre Fontane, bathing establishments offer parasols, sun loungers, toilets, showers and beach volleyball courts. One specific facility is Lido Coco Loco Beach at Piazza Favoroso 22. It offers a Sand-&Sea chair, Solemar equipment, a walkway, accessible showers and qualified staff.

The Lungomare Est and Lungomare Ovest are suitable for cycling trips. Both names are used for local orientation along the coast and offer an option for a more active day, without implying a specific route length or a defined circular route.

History and Religious Tradition

The Torre di Tre Fontane was part of Sicily’s coastal defence and observation system until the 19th century. The tower thus represents a historical side of the town that extends beyond today’s beach stay.

A particularly impressive tradition takes place every year on 15 August. On that day, the statue of Maria Assunta is taken by motorboat along the western and eastern beach sections. During the Imbarco della Madonna, the statue of the Madonna is first carried in a procession to the beach and then taken out to sea. This tradition includes prayers, hymns and applause; residents, tourists and worshippers take part.
