Biscione: Coast, Nature and Local Festivals
Accommodation in Biscione
Biscione offers a variety of ways to enjoy a trip: the Litorale, with opportunities for diving and seasonal wildlife, and a history of culture and festivals reflected in a range of events. When planning a stay, you can first decide whether nature at the Litorale or local food and culture are your main interests. The dated event examples offer insights into different formats and years.
Litorale di Biscione: Diving and Seasonal Nature
The Litorale di Biscione offers a variety of diving opportunities. Check local conditions before taking part so you can adapt your dive to what you find there.
Turtles of the Caretta caretta species lay their eggs on the beach in front of the Litorale di Biscione. This nesting is seasonal and not guaranteed, so it cannot be planned as a fixed natural event for a particular stay. Diving and turtle nesting appeal to different interests at the Litorale: for the former, local conditions should be checked in advance; for the latter, the season determines whether it can be expected at all.
Piazza Biscione: Culture and Different Types of Events
Different kinds of events took place in Piazza Biscione. In August 2026, “Cacciatori di Sogni” brought together music, dance and theatre. In 2020, the IX Torneo Scacchi Sotto le Stelle was also held in Piazza Biscione as part of Petrosino Estate: a rapid chess tournament for young people under 16. The two examples are quite different—the first combined several performing arts, while the other was a chess tournament for a clearly specified age group.
Another dated event was “Pedalando sotto le stelle”. It was organised on 23 August 2018 at 7 pm in Piazza Biscione in Petrosino, with a focus on sport, entertainment and social engagement. In 2026, the “Petrosino Biscione” installation, created by the “I Picciotti di Via Cafiso Petrosino Aps” association, was also inaugurated. For your travel plans, if a particular cultural event is the deciding factor, check its date separately for your intended travel year.
Food Culture and Local Festivals
The festival dates also offer different highlights. In 2018, the sixth edition of “Du Gnocculu” was held in Piazza Biscione. In Petrosino, the second edition of the Sagra dell’Arancina took place in Piazza Biscione in 2024. The festival featured ten different types of arancine—a specific example of the variety offered at a single edition.
The second edition of “Vino Vivo” had a different culinary focus: it took place from 1 to 2 August 2025 at the Litorale di Biscione and was dedicated to wine culture and promoting the area. By contrast, the Sagra dell’Arancina focused on different types of a single dish. The locations also differ: the two festivals mentioned above took place in Piazza Biscione, while “Vino Vivo” was held at the Litorale. This makes it possible to distinguish the events by theme and location without treating their different editions as the same.
